Popular Parks

1/11
National parks are among the world's best settings for capturing the perfect Instagram shot. Faraway Garden Furniture recently looked at the number of times the world's top national parks have been hashtagged on Instagram to determine which are the most influential on the popular social media platform. Here are the 10 most Instagrammed national parks around the world as of January 2020.

10. Snowdonia National Park, Wales

2/11
Majestic Snowdonia National Park in northwest Wales is not only the country's largest national park but home to the highest mountain in England and Wales as well as the largest natural lake in Wales. With 844,124 hashtags on Instagram, Snowdonia rounds out the top 10, edging out New Forest National Park in southern England.

9. Sequoia National Park, California

3/11
Located in California's southern Sierra Nevada mountains, Sequoia National Park is one of five U.S. national parks in the top 10 and narrowly misses out on the 1 million hashtag mark with 979,681 total. The massive General Sherman Tree located in the Giant Forest is one of the park's most popular sites.

8. Galapagos National Park, Ecuador

4/11
Ecuador's Galapagos has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since the late 1970s and is unsurprisingly one of the world's most Instagrammed national parks given its remarkable biodiversity. Although it's one of only eight national parks analyzed with more than 1 million hashtags (1,018,355), it has the distinction of being the most expensive in the top 10.

7. Kruger National Park, South Africa

5/11
Kruger National Park in South Africa isn't far ahead of the Galapagos but continues to dominate on Instagram as its home to Africa's Big Five, including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos. Its 1,106,004 hashtags give it the seventh-most of any national park that was looked at.

6. Peak District National Park, England

6/11
England's Peak District National Park is one of three U.K. national parks in the top 10 and one of three free parks in the top 10. However, with 1,342,240 hashtags it has ways to go before it can crack the top five.

5. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho

7/11
Spanning three states with sections in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, America's first national park is the world's fifth-most Instagrammed with 2,109,660 hashtags. Tourists are encouraged to photograph the park's natural beauty but should avoid getting too close to attractions like Old Faithful.

4. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

8/11
Elsewhere in the western U.S., Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park ranks fourth with 2,343,245 hashtags on Instagram. The 415-square-mile national park is also among the nation's best for camping and hiking so there are numerous opportunities for visitors to capture stellar photos.

3. Lake District National Park, England

9/11
A popular vacation destination in northwest England, Lake District National Park has been hashtagged on Instagram 2,662,538 times. Visitors come for an array of eye-popping sites, including Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, the country's deepest lake.

2. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

10/11
One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona has garnered a staggering 3,859,864 hashtags on Instagram. Considered a bucket list destination for many, the Grand Canyon is the country's second-most-visited national park behind only Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee.

1. Yosemite National Park, California

11/11
With a whopping 4,067,845 hashtags, California's Yosemite National Park is the world's most Instagrammed national park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Yosemite is one of the most-visited national parks in the U.S., attracting approximately four million people every year.
