A Fresh Sheraton Kauai

Located along the waterfront at Poipu Beach, The Sheraton Kauai Resort recently completed a renovation of its Ocean Wing guestrooms and suites, introducing a modern design with updated furnishings and island-inspired colors-think soft yellows and light blues.

The refreshed room categories include the deluxe garden view, deluxe oceanfront, luxury oceanfront and ocean suite categories within the Ocean Wing. In April, a similar makeover of the Beach Wing is expected to be completed.

Ocean Wing rooms at the Sheraton have a private lanai and sit directly above the coast. Because the resort was first built in 1968, the Ocean Wing's proximity to the ocean is grandfathered in. The modern updates include new bedding, patterned carpets, furniture and fresh paint.

The bathrooms are one of the most modern parts of the renovated rooms, combining white tile and brown cabinets.

The Sheraton is located adjacent to Poipu Beach, giving guests immediate access to a swimmable beach (which aren't exactly easy to come by on Kauai). Activities such as snorkeling, surf lessons and paddleboarding are available through the activity center.

The hotel also has an ocean-front pool. Many rooms in the Beach Wing overlook the pool and the ocean.

The Sheraton is known for its oceanfront restaurant, RumFire. As scenic as they come, its front windows look out over the ocean. Its food and drink programs highlight local farms and producers and is part of the budding food scene on Kauai.

Enjoy handcrafted cocktails and local liquors (including Koloa Rum) at the trendy, circular bar, or grab an intimate dinner at one of the cozy booths. Try the Ahi Poke, Kauai Island Salad, Hawaiian Paella or local fish dishes.
