Top Caribbean Resorts Reopening This October

The Caribbean continues to be one of the most accessible destinations for Americans as the world slowly reopens in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and as the calendar flips to October, travelers can look forward to a handful of hotel and resort reopenings from Cancun to Guadeloupe.

Elite vacation club Exclusive Resorts' will reopen more than a dozen private villas at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands on October 1. These 10-person homes are located in a private gated community on the renowned Seven Mile Beach, rewarding guests with private plunge pools, fully-equipped chef-grade kitchens, spacious terraces and comfortable al fresco dining areas. The sprawling resort is also home to a 20,000-square-foot spa and family-friendly waterpark.

Hotel Barriere Le Carl Gustaf in St. Bart's is prepared to open to guests on October 15. The Barriere Group's first Caribbean property offers guests nearly two dozen luxury rooms, including cottages, suites, bungalows and lofts that come with their own terrace and personal plunge pool. Socially distant wellness experiences are also available, including private Pilates, yoga, aqua biking sessions and outdoor activities such as sailing and snorkeling.

Club Med Cancun is scheduled to reopen on October 17. The property boasts the distinction of being the only in Cancun with three private beachfront spaces. The family-friendly resort also features as many as 120 oceanfront family rooms in addition to a dedicated family pool and weekly outdoor activities for families to groups to take part in when they aren't enjoying an oceanfront massage or indulging in mouthwatering local cuisine.

In the Dominican Republic, Club Med Punta Cana will reopen with enhanced health and safety measures on October 17. The all-inclusive resort is ideal for groups, who can take advantage of the oceanside family suites featuring a dedicated infinity pool and bar as well as all-day room service.

Club Med La Caravelle in Guadeloupe is also slated to reopening on October 17. The resort is fresh off of a recent reopening in last year on the heels of an extensive renovation. Guests can look forward to all-new dining concepts including a pair of beachside bars and a rum cellar in addition to new oceanfront accommodations and new spa experiences compete such as aquatic treatment spaces and private massage rooms.

Club Med Turkoise will reopen one week later on October 24. Located on Grace Bay Beach, this newly redesigned adults-only and all-inclusive resort boasts deluxe oceanfront guestrooms equipped with private balconies, an enhanced wellness area and a brand new wine cellar, among other amenities. What's more, guests will have access to unlimited land and water activities ranging from sailing to tennis.

One of the premier resorts offering extended stay options this fall, Anguilla's Altamer Resort is currently applications through October 31 for the Live, Work, Play and Learn package that includes accommodations at Altamer's palatial Antilles Pearl villa that comes with a tutor's/nanny's headquarters, arranged workstations, private pool and beach access, a complimentary tennis lesson and yoga session and a one-day private charter. Meanwhile, the Digital Nomad package invites guests into Altamer's Petit Topaz villa, which starts at only $2,000 per week.

Belize will reopen to tourism on October 1 and with it, the Turneffe Island Resort will begin welcoming back guests. The 14-acre resort offers 22 private accommodations, each of which comes with a screened-in terrace featuring gorgeous beachfront views. Other highlights of this one-of-a-kind property include a private helicopter pad and access to kayaks, paddleboards and Hobie Cats. Travelers can also rent the entire atoll for a minimum of seven nights starting at $100,000.
