The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) announced this week that more than 12,000 people have downloaded the organization's insightful Travel Advisor Career Overview materials. The step-by-step guide to joining the travel industry is available for free thanks to an investment by Norwegian Cruise Line and is yet another example of ASTA's ongoing efforts to bring new travel advisors into the industry. Previously available for a small fee, ASTA's Travel Advisor Career Overview materials had seen roughly 50 downloads in the five years prior to 2023.“Right now, the travel industry desperately needs more talent,” ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby said in a statement."If someone is interested in becoming a travel advisor, they first have to understand the landscape of our industry and the variety of pathways available to them. Thanks to Norwegian Cruise Line, we’re able to provide that information as well as step-by-step materials to introduce new advisors to the industry," he added."Our members are telling us they need help, but our goal is bigger than just recruiting advisors to the industry. We want to make sure our future travel professionals have all the tools they need to enter the industry, continue to increase their professional skills and be successful," Kerby said.ASTA's Travel Career Center has also experienced exponential growth and record traffic in the last few months.
