Although there's nothing pleasant about wind chills plummeting 50 degrees below zero, it certainly beats snow when you've got somewhere to be.
After fast-moving Winter Storm Gorgon led to 975 flight cancellations and 5,264 delays within, into or out of the U.S. on Tuesday, according to FlightAware.com, weather conditions are much improved at many airports across the country.
As of 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, FlightAware.com reports 185 cancellations and 953 delays nationwide.
The three airports impacted the most by Wednesday's freezing temperatures have been New York's LaGuardia, Washington, D.C.'s Reagan National and Chicago's O'Hare.
LaGuardia had reported 42 cancellations as of this writing, while Reagan National and Chicago O'Hare had each experienced 31 canceled flights.
Philadelphia International Airport had reported 28 cancellations as of 11 a.m. ET.
According to Weather.com's Linda Lam and Nick Wiltgen, more than half of the U.S. population should anticipate bitterly cold temperatures over the next couple of days, with wind chill warnings, watches and advisories in effect for 190 million Americans.
The Great Lakes region could see some lake-effect snow in the coming days, that, when combined with brutally cold temperatures, could make travel difficult for those in that part of the country.
But with mostly clear conditions and unforgiving wind chills replacing the widespread snowfall brought on by Winter Storm Gorgon, air travelers can expect far less issues on Wednesday.
