Alaska Airlines
will launch seasonal, direct flights from Los Angeles and Seattle to Nassau in
The Bahamas beginning in December, said Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB)
officials.
Beginning
December 14, Alaska Airlines will offer nonstop departures to Nassau’s Lynden
Pindling International Airport from Los Angeles International Airport and
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The Bahamas flights will operate four times per week from Los
Angeles and thrice weekly from Seattle.
Traditionally
popular with U.S. East Coast residents, the Alaska Airlines flights will expand travel to The Bahamas from two of the largest U.S. western
states.

“With increased
visitation to Nassau Paradise Island from the West Coast, we are thrilled to
offer even more options for travelers to reach our shores,” said Joy Jibrilu, NPIPB’s
CEO.
“This is the
first-ever flight to the Bahamas from Alaska Airlines,” Jibrilu said, “and we
look forward to growing our partnership to meet the demand for our authentic
Bahamian hospitality, picture-perfect beaches and award-winning
accommodations.”
Nassau’s Lynden
Pindling International Airport provides U.S. travelers with the convenience of U.S.
Customs and Immigration Preclearance, enabling travelers to clear customs and
immigration during their departure from Nassau, rather than upon their return
to the U.S.
Lynden Pindling
International Airport also offers U.S. Global Entry access and additionally is the
first airport outside of the U.S. to implement TSA PreCheck, according to NPIPB
officials.
“We’re excited
to add a ‘new dot’ to our route map and believe our guests will appreciate the
convenience of nonstop service to The Bahamas this winter,” said Kirsten
Amrine, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of revenue management and network
planning.
