The capital of the Aloha State is getting easier to reach for travelers based in the West.
Alaska Airlines has announced two new nonstop routes to Honolulu from Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington.
The new seasonal routes are set to launch in December 2026 and will be the only nonstop routes to Hawaii from Boise and Spokane, two cities where travel demand to the islands is growing, according to the carrier.
Daily flights from Boise (BOI) to Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) will begin on December 17 and run through March 21.
Service from Spokane (GEG) to Honolulu starts December 19 and will operate once a week on Saturdays through April 17.
Alaska will use a single-aisle Boeing 737 Max aircraft to operate both of the new routes.
In addition to the Boise and Spokane launches, Alaska’s partner carrier Hawaiian Airlines is increasing seasonal flights on its existing route from Las Vegas (LAS) to Honolulu. The carrier will add three more weekly flights on the route during the peak winter and spring periods.
The added capacity is part of a larger seasonal expansion at Hawaiian, which will see its seasonal flight schedule grow by 3% year-over-year and increase by 6% during peak holiday travel windows.
Despite the notable growth in some regions, Hawaiian said it will not be bringing back its seasonal route from Auckland, New Zealand, to Honolulu this November.
Although Hawaiian said the New Zealand market is “deeply important to us,” the carrier is nixing the route due to an array of factors, including “high fuel costs, soft demand recovery in international Pacific markets, unfavorable exchange rates and evolving global travel trends.”
