After a month-long standoff between the
Boeing Company and its striking machinists comes a new twist.
Oh, the strike by some 33,000 workers
still unfortunately continues. But now the airplane manufacturer has made a key
strategic move.
Boeing has
filed an unfair labor practice charge against the union representing the
workers.
The charge was filed late Thursday night.
It was made with the National Labor Relations Board.
Specifically, Boeing said the union has
bargained in bad faith and has accused the union of not passing along all
information or misinformation to its employees.
The workers, based mostly on the West
Coast, are represented by the International Association of Machinists and
Aerospace Workers.
The company claimed the union had engaged
in a "pattern of bad faith bargaining, and of issuing misinformation to
its members about the status of negotiations."
Boeing said it can weather the storm, but
one analyst
projected that the company lost $570 million in the first week of the
strike last month.
