Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS) is joining its big city brethren in getting a makeover.
For years, Logan has been in the process of getting a $2 billion makeover to join other airports in New York City—including LaGuardia and JFK—and Los Angeles (LAX) and Chicago (O'Hare) in making life easier on travelers.
BOS is often ranked as one of the country's worst airports when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Most of the work that has already been completed has been done in Terminal E, including a new sleek, red outside look. Many have compared it to a racetrack.
Terminal E is where most of Logan's international flights arrive.
“We wanted to generate a space where passengers felt free, and where they could make their own decisions,” said one of the architects. “With a glimpse, the passenger can understand the building entirely. That removes a lot of anxiety.”
The bold, red color of the terminal particularly stands out.
“When we first talked about red, we all went ‘no way,’"said Terry Rookard, another of the architects. “But it all came together and it all made sense. At the end of the day, it is so brilliant and strong and inspiring.”
