Dallas Love Field Airport will soon offer an enhanced experience for traveling families following a substantial investment.
On Thursday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has committed to investing $23.7 million into Love Field.
The grant, which is funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed into law during the Biden administration, will be put toward reconstructing passenger boarding bridges that will make it easier for families with small children to board and deplane safely, the FAA said.
"This administration is focused on making travel happier and more convenient for American families. The Golden Age of Travel includes a Family First agenda," Duffy said in a statement. "We’re making airports inviting spaces for parents and children to relax and recharge prior to boarding."
"The FAA is moving quickly to get these investments out the door and into airports nationwide," added FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford. "These projects will help create a more welcoming and accessible travel experience for families while demonstrating our commitment to improving America’s airports at record speed."
The grant announcement comes just a couple of months after the Department of Transportation invested $970 million into 133 grants to airports in 45 states for family-friendly improvements.
Dallas Love Field is currently in the midst of a $2.5 billion capital improvement program to upgrade infrastructure through projects such as a consolidated rental car facility, a new terminal headhouse, and a new parking garage, among others.
