Hyatt's Thompson Hotels brand has expanded its European presence, debuting in Italy with the opening of the 69-room Thompson Rome this fall.
Owned and operated by AG Group s.r.l. and Rossifin Group, the property is set within a reimagined 1940s landmark on Via delle Botteghe Oscure just steps from Piazza Venezia and within walking distance to some of the city's top attractions, including the Roman Forum, Pantheon and Colosseum.
Guests can look forward to carefully restored architecture oozing with charm as well as 19 suites, including Junior Suites, Suites with patios or terraces and the spacious Thompson Suite with a private terrace.
Thompson Rome also boasts a trio of distinct food and beverage venues, including LYVE Restaurant, where Executive Chef Fabio Fioravanti is taking a contemporary Mediterranean approach to ingredients and traditions from the Italian coast and across the region.
Ideal for seafood lovers, highlights include Mediterranean fish and shellfish alongside dishes that draw on bouillabaisse, rockfish broths, wild coastal herbs and rouille. There's also a pastry kitchen churning out mouthwatering desserts.
There's also the LYVE Rooftop where guests can enjoy cocktails and sharables with a view. Finally, the Lobby Lounge offers a casual setting for coffee, light fare, aperitivo and cocktails throughout the day.
"Rome has such a strong identity, so we wanted Thompson Rome to start with the city itself. The building, the neighborhood, the food, the people and the way Romans live all shaped the hotel. The goal was to create a Thompson hotel that feels at home in Rome, a hotel travelers want to discover and Romans want to come back to," Amar Lalvani, Chief Creative Officer, Hyatt Corporation and President & Creative Director, The Lifestyle Group, Hyatt, said in a statement.
"Rome reveals itself over time, through its neighborhoods, its art and, most importantly, its people. At Thompson Rome, we want guests to feel connected to that side of the city from the moment they arrive," added general manager Arturo Gomez.
"Whether it’s discovering the artists represented throughout the hotel, sharing an aperitivo on the rooftop or simply asking a member of our team where they would spend an afternoon, our hope is that the hotel becomes a starting point for experiencing Rome in a more personal way. And for those of us who live here, we want it to become a place you return to again and again," concluded Gomez.
