The company slogan for Flair Airlines is Plain and Simple.
But Flair, a little-known carrier ultra-low-cost carrier based in Canada, is making
headlines for all the wrong reasons.
It
suffered massive delays on a spring break flight returning to Ottawa, Canada from Cancun, Mexico. For starters, it was supposed to leave last
Thursday, March 14. It did not leave until Saturday, March 16.
It
necessitated several trips to the airport for passengers.
Customers
told the media that they were told by the airline there were navigational
issues. In fact, at one point, passengers were told that they should board the
plane only to be told again to get off the aircraft and to retrieve their
luggage at the airport.
Flair
is not large enough of an airline to have a replacement plane at the ready.
One
family said they had been to the airport four times. It was reported that only
some of the passengers were compensated for their meals and staying in a hotel.
Even though the delays added up to a 48-hour issue, the delays were staggered
and were cumulative. The airline was not obligated to get passengers on another
carrier.
