Frontier Airlines is strengthening its existing service from a major Midwest city early next year. This week, the ultra-low-cost carrier revealed plans to establish a new crew base at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) in March of 2024. To celebrate, it’s offering discounted fares, priced as low as $29, to the 17 destinations to which it now flies from CLE.
This strategic move is set to create local job opportunities, with up to 110 pilots, 250 flight attendants, and 50 aircraft maintenance personnel expected to be employed within the first year of operation. When combined with airport positions, it’s anticipated that ‘America’s Greenest Airline’ will contribute nearly $80 million annually to local wages, with further growth to follow over the coming years.
Before announcing its new hub in the ‘Rock 'n' Roll Capital of the World’, Frontier had already solidified its position as the fastest-growing carrier at CLE, boasting a remarkable 53-percent increase in passenger capacity over the past year. This winter, the airline is operating 17 nonstop routes from Cleveland, more than any other carrier.
“We’re excited to partner with the Cleveland community as we continue to expand our operation at CLE and bring meaningful economic impact to the area through new jobs,” Barry Biffle, CEO of Frontier Airlines, said in a statement. “A crew base also positively impacts customers, as it helps to support smooth flight operations. Our new crew base reflects our commitment to continued growth at CLE as we bring even more of our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ to area residents.”

The expansion opens opportunities for those interested in aviation careers, with Frontier actively recruiting for flight attendant positions. A local hiring event is expected to take place in Cleveland in January 2024, and individuals keen on joining the Frontier Airlines team as flight attendants can also apply online.
The $29 promotional airfare offer is valid on nonstop flights traveling between Cleveland (CLE) and Atlanta (ATL) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays through December 20, 2023. To lock in these low fares, customers must book their tickets by 11:59 p.m. ET on November 20. Certain terms and conditions apply, including a seven-day advance purchase requirement and blackout dates from November 20-26.
On its webpage dedicated to flight deals from Cleveland, Members of Frontier’s travel club, Discount Den, will also find crazy bargains on one-way flights from Cleveland to other destinations—like Las Vegas, Orlando, Denver, San Diego, San Juan and more—priced at just $19 and up.
