Partnerships between airline and car rental companies can result in discounts and monumental deals for consumers, and the announcement Thursday that Avis Budget Group and JetBlue Airways have struck a new deal should have travelers excited.
According to the Avis Budget Group, the company and JetBlue agreed to a multi-year preferred partnership agreement which expands the current relationship between the two companies. Avis has already been a partner for JetBlue's TrueBlue loyalty rewards program, but the relationship is expanding.
The new agreement allows the Avis Budget Group to promote its multiple car rental brands and services-Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental and Payless Car Rental-directly to JetBlue customers and TrueBlue members.
JetBlue Airways Executive Vice President Marty St. George released a statement about the partnership, saying, "JetBlue is always looking for ways to further enhance our customer travel experience. Our partnership with Avis Budget Group will provide even more convenient options. JetBlue customers will be able to earn points for car rentals, bringing their dream vacations closer to reality. Also, travelers that are planning their vacations can conveniently add an Avis, Budget or Payless car rental directly into their bundled package."
In addition to selling the individual brands through JetBlue, airline customers who are TrueBlue members and those with Mosaic status can earn points by renting from one of the approved brands to earn even more TrueBlue points.
The Avis Budget Group's car rental brands will also be available on JetBlue's website booking channel in order to help customers rent their cars from the same place they would typically book their flights.
Avis Budget Group will also be featured in other channels, including appearing on JetBlue Getaways and Blue Inc., taking part in a call-transfer program to get customers to the car rental company operators and a travel program for employees of JetBlue.
