An air traveler was tased and arrested at Hilo International Airport on the Island of Hawaii last weekend when he "created a disturbance" after learning that his luggage was lost.
Thirty-year-old Dean Padamada allegedly began throwing pamphlets and later threatened airport staffers who had attempted to calm him down before getting into it with police and resisting arrest on November 10.
Officers said that the man was behaving "violently" when they arrived and that he continued to fight back, even knocking one officer to the ground and injuring another before authorities could neutralize him with a Taser.
"Hawaii Island Police were called to a disturbance at the Hilo International Airport at about 3 p.m. involving an irate male. Police learned that Dean Padamada was upset after landing at the airport and discovering that his luggage never arrived," authorities said in a news release.
Padamada was taken into custody and charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and two counts of assault on a police officer.
Last year, a disruptive passenger was tased by police on an American Airlines flight at Miami International Airport.
