PLAY airlines is stepping outside the normal comfort zone that airlines are used to.
PLAY is adopting a new payment method of buy now and pay later in a new partnership with Uplift. The deal is meant to encourage more travel.
Uplift has been a pioneer in the by now and pay later program in the travel industry. PLAY is a low-cost carrier that emanates from Iceland.
"At PLAY, we focus on simplicity, low prices, and happiness, which is why we felt it was important to offer our passengers the ability to pay for their flights on their time frame," Sonja Arnorsdottir, Chief Commercial Officer of PLAY, said in a statement.
"We offer the ability for passengers to customize their journey by choosing to add only those additional services they want, such as baggage and seats. The Uplift Buy Now Pay Later solution allows our passengers to pay for their flights according to their preferences.”
Using Reykjavik as a hub, PLAY flies to more than 30 European cities and also to select destinations on the east coast of the United States and Canada.
"We are excited to welcome PLAY to the Uplift family," said Tom Botts, Chief Commercial Officer, Uplift. "We share a similar vision and values as both companies are committed to making air travel more accessible and affordable to consumers. This partnership will now make it possible for budget-conscious travelers to make European vacation dreams a reality, including the incredible destination that is Iceland."
Uplift partners with more than 300 of the world's leading airlines, cruise lines, resorts and other major travel providers to help more consumers.
With Uplift, there are no late fees or prepayment penalties, and guests can book now and spread the cost over monthly payments rather than paying in full at once. Customers see the total cost of their purchase upfront, including the monthly payment amount, and may select from a variety of monthly installments.
PLAY talked about the state of the airline industry earlier this year.
