Flying in the upper deck of an Airbus A380 plane is considered one of the most glamorous experiences in modern aviation. And aboard Qantas Airways’ fleet of A380s, the experience is about to get even more luxurious.

The Australian carrier has announced an array of new perks for fliers in their A380s first class cabin, including new amenity kits, revamped in-flight dining, redesigned pajamas, and more.

Among the improvements are amenity kits with toiletries by Aesop, with products such as the brand’s toothpaste, Resurrection Hand Balm, Rinse-Free Hand Wash, and Cedar & Citrus Lip Salve. The kits will come in three collectible cases and will be offered alongside new navy Qantas pajamas and loafer-style slippers.

A new in-flight dining experience curated by Australian Chef Neil Perry, who also serves as Qantas’ creative director of food and beverage, will feature dishes from his restaurant Margaret with ingredients from Australian purveyors on flights from Australia.

New menu items include Margaret's tartare of yellowfin tuna with gochujang, toasted sesame, and baby cos; Neil Perry’s gran torino torta di Verona with Amaretto, and toasted almonds; crumbed Margra lamb cutlets with shaved fennel, pine nuts, rocket, salsa verde, and lemon; and a gluten-free roasted Wollemi duck with orange caramel, crisp Chinese greens, golden sesame, and jasmine rice. As an added bonus, first class fliers will be able to dine on demand during any part of the flight.

The new meal selections will be paired with a line-up of Australian wines and new Champagne options that include Bollinger La Grande Année 2015 and Pommery Cuvée Louise 2006.

“Our incredible Cabin Crew have been undergoing inflight trials and an intensive training program. It is great to welcome new premium partners onboard and we look forward to delivering this new experience for our First customers," said Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace.

The airline says that the enhancements have been informed by customer feedback, and they will begin rolling out in December and will be progressively added to each of its A380 jets. Qantas operates a fleet of 10 A380 planes, using the superjumbo jets on long-haul routes, including those to the U.S., such as from Melbourne to Los Angeles and Sydney to Dallas-Fort Worth.

Each first class cabin aboard the airline’s A380s has just 14 lie-flat seats laid out in a 1-1-1 configuration that gives every passenger direct access to the aisle. First class passengers on the double-decker jet are also afforded an in-seat massage function, a Sheridan duvet, mattress, and pillows, and an 18-inch entertainment screen.

The airline expects the new first class enhancements to be added to its full A380 fleet by mid-2026.
