Southwest Airlines announced the return of its Companion
Pass promotion.
Travelers who are Rapid Rewards Members will have the chance
to designate one person to fly with them for free every time they purchase or
redeem points for a Southwest
flight.
To qualify, members of the airline’s frequent flyer program
must register for the promotion and purchase a qualifying Southwest revenue
flight—one round trip or two one-way flights—through March 27 and travel by May
22.
“We know the Companion Pass is a favorite perk of our Rapid
Rewards program, and we're thrilled to bring back this promotion for a limited
time so that customers can experience why this popular benefit is so
meaningful,” Southwest
Vice President Jonathan Clarkson said.
“We invite our customers to take advantage of this offer
because traveling with your favorite companion supports sharing of adventures
and creating memories that can last a lifetime,” Clarkson continued.
Passengers must then designate a companion to fly for free
with them between August 5 and October 2. To benefit from this promotional
offer and learn more, customers should visit the carrier’s
website for the full list of terms and conditions.
Last week, Southwest announced plans to operate
overnight flights for the first time in its 57-year history, with the first
being from Las Vegas and Hawaii. Chief Commercial Officer Ryan Green said the
carrier is aiming to start the routes in around two years’ time after working
out some logistical details.
