Southwest Just Announced $59 Flights: Here’s What You Need To Know

If you’re planning to travel this fall, now is the time to score a cheap airline ticket.

Southwest has just announced one-way fares throughout the United States for as low as $59.

But here’s the catch: You have to act fast. The fares must be booked by midnight this Thursday, August 22.

There’s no promo code required to book the ultra discounted tickets but a 21-day advance purchase is required. It’s also worth noting that all California travel is excluded from the deal.

There’s also blackout dates to be aware of. Specifically:

• The discount fares are valid for Continental travel between September 10, 2024 and March 5, 2025. The blackout dates for Continental travel include November 21 - November 27 and December 18 - January 7, 2025.
• Hawaii, international and San Juan, Puerto Rico travel is valid from September 10, 2024 and February 10, 2025. Hawaii, Puerto Rico and international blackout dates include November 21 - November 25; November 29 - December 3, and again December 18 through January 7, 2025.

The tickets are non-refundable and the fares are valid on nonstop service where indicated. The deals can also be booked via Rapid Rewards points for just 3,800 points. Those booking with points, however, must pay an addition $5.60 for taxes and fees per one-way ticket.

Southwest also recently announced a route shake-up. The carrier, the nation’s fourth largest, is adding seven new routes and is dropping or altering four others. In addition, earlier this year, Southwest announced that it is starting red-eye flights.
