With the year’s basketball and hockey seasons about to get underway, Southwest Airlines is strengthening its Mile High Heart proposition in Mile High City with a pair of new partnerships. These new alliances allow the airline to extend its special brand of hospitality to both the local sports community, and fans far and wide.
During a recent company event in Downtown Denver, the major U.S. carrier announced its new standing as The Official Airline of the Denver Nuggets (NBA) and Colorado Avalanche (NHL) teams, which join Southwest’s sports roster alongside the Colorado Rockies (MLB).
"From the hardwood to the ice rink, we're thrilled to welcome the Nuggets & Avalanche into our partnership family. Partnering with these two winning franchises enables us to share our Mile High Heart in support of the community's passion points," said Jonathan Clarkson, Vice President of Marketing at Southwest Airlines. "Our partnerships are more than just a name at the arena or ballpark. They're focused on the community and bringing everyone together to rally around a common cause, give underserved communities a hand-up, celebrating moments that matter, and serving the city with our famous Heart and Hospitality."
Fans can expect to see player appearances, fresh digital content, and unique collaborations throughout the upcoming season that bring the Nuggets and the Avalanche together to demonstrate their LUV for the Denver-area community.
Southwest is also teaming up with Kroenke Sports Charities to back the Colorado Avalanche Charity Brunch, along with various other charitable initiatives supported by the Nuggets and Avalanche.

The award-winning airline will also serve as the inaugural presenting sponsor of the Nuggets’ “Mile High City Nights” platform, as well as the new presenting sponsor of the Avalanche’s special “Division Rivalry Nights” series. Other products of these new partnerships include multiple sweepstakes opportunities that will offer fans the chance to watch their teams play in person while out on the road, as well as various activations for annual title night that celebrate the synergistic efforts of Southwest and Kroenke Sports Charities to benefit the local Denver community.
