It’s all about the jazz, baby. Spirit Airlines said it will start a new route from Charlotte to New Orleans.
The direct flight will be five times a week and will start on October 10.
The news can be considered a challenge to American Airlines or a response to JetBlue. Charlotte-Douglas is a hub for American, and therefore, it is one of the dominant carriers.
JetBlue previously announced it would cease operations in Charlotte.
Flights to The Big Easy can be booked now, and some are available for as low as $65 for the two-hour trip from Charlotte.
It gives residents in North Carolina and South Carolina another option to fly Spirit on one of its nine routes, including Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York City, among others.
Spirit also just announced it was adding four new flights.
