The route between Hong Kong and Taipei was the busiest air route of 2024, while the route between Atlanta and Orlando was the busiest in the nation, according to leading data platform OAG’s new Busiest Flight Routes of 2024 report.
The route from Atlanta (ATL) to Orlando (MCO) had 3.5 million seats flown between the two this year. In second place is Honolulu (HNL) to Kahului (OGG), followed by the route from Las Vegas (LAS) to Los Angeles (LAX). In fourth place is Denver (DEN) to Phoenix (PHX), with the route from Los Angeles (LAX) to San Francisco (SFO) in fifth.
“...Travelers are flying more, with TSA recording its busiest travel day in history over the Thanksgiving holiday,” said John Grant, chief analyst at OAG. “Airlines in the U.S. who strategically use real-time aviation insights will best adapt to these market changes and win over traveler expectations.”
Internationally, the top busiest global international airline route was the route between Hong Kong (HKG) and Taipei (TPE), which flew 6.8 million seats between the two destinations. In second place was Cairo (CAI) to Jeddah (JED), followed by Seoul Incheon (ICN) to Tokyo Narita (NRT).
The only international route from the U.S. that made it to the top ten international routes of the year is the New York (JFK) to London Heathrow (LHR) route, which ranked ten.
Curious about the world’s busiest domestic flight route? That remains the route between Jeju International and Seoul Gimpo, which flew over 14.2 million seats this year, far above any other domestic route in the world.
