Although extra legroom, fast Wi-Fi, and overhead bin storage can make time spent on a plane more enjoyable, the one amenity that is non-negotiable for most travelers is an on-time arrival.

A new report shows the airlines around the globe that consistently deliver just that: punctual flights with minimal delays. Aviation analytics firm Cirium has ranked the most punctual airlines in the world, based on flight operations data from 2025.

On-time performance “is a critical metric that influences nearly every aspect of an airline’s business, from the passenger experience to financial results,” says Cirium’s report. “By delivering reliable, punctual service, airlines can foster deep-seated customer loyalty and enhance their global brand reputation.”

For the report, Cirium considered a flight to be “on time” if it departed or arrived within 15 minutes of schedule.

The most punctual airline in the world was Aeromexico, with 90.02 percent of its flights arriving on time in 2025. The Mexico-City based carrier earned the No. 1 title for the second year in a row. Being the most on-time airline around the globe is impressive enough, but Aeromexico also improved its operation performance by 3.3 percent compared to 2024, when it had 86.7 percent of its flights arrive on time.

In second place was Saudia Airlines, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, which had 86.53 percent of its flights in 2026 arrive on time. Rounding out the top three most punctual airlines in the world is Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) with an on-time arrival rate of 86.09 percent.

Airlines in the Middle East, South America, and Europe filled out the rest of the top 10 most punctual airlines in the world.

Only one U.S. carrier made it onto the global rankings. Delta Air Lines scored the 10th spot on the worldwide most punctual list, with an on-time arrival rate of 80.9 percent. That is particularly impressive given the operational challenges in the U.S. throughout 2025, including ongoing air traffic control equipment issues and the government shutdown, which caused widespread flight delays for weeks.

Out of all the airlines on the worldwide list, Delta also operated the most flights, a total of 1.8 million flights throughout 2025.

Here’s a look at the full global list, according to Cirium’s data:

Cirium On-Time Performance Global Airlines Winners:

  1. Aermexico: 90.02% of flights on time
  2. Saudia: 86.53% of flights on time
  3. SAS: 86.09% of flights on time
  4. Azul: 85.18% of flights on time
  5. Qatar Airways: 84.42% of flights on time
  6. Iberia: 83.52% of flights on time
  7. LATAM: 82.40% of flights on time
  8. Avianca: 81.73% of flights on time
  9. Turkish Airlines: 81.41% of flights on time
  10. Delta Air Lines: 80.90% of flights on time

Atlanta-based Delta was also named the most punctual carrier among North American airlines. The airline also held the top spot in 2024, but its on-time arrival rate dropped by two percentage points for 2025 due to the operational hardships throughout the national air travel system.

Also affected by those difficulties was United Airlines, dropped from second place in 2024 down to fourth place among North American carriers, due to the ATC equipment issues at its hub in Newark International Airport.

Alaska Airlines and Spirit Airlines—ranked second and third place on the North American list—both made significant improvements to their on-time performance in 2025. Alaska climbed up from the third spot in 2024, thanks to largely being unaffected by ATC equipment failures, Cirium says. Spirit Airlines had nearly three percent more of its flights arrive on time year over year despite going through bankruptcy proceedings for a second time in 2025, narrowly beating out United for the third place spot.

Here’s a look at the most punctual airlines in North America, according to Cirium:

  1. Delta Air Lines: 80.90% of flights on time
  2. Alaska Airlines: 79.20% of flights on time
  3. Spirit Airlines: 78.83% of flights on time
  4. United Airlines: 78.77% of flights on time
  5. Southwest Airlines: 77.04% of flights on time
  6. American Airlines: 76.43% of flights on time
  7. JetBlue: 74.66% of flights on time
  8. WestJet: 73.58% of flights on time
  9. Air Canada: 73.26% of flights on time
  10. Frontier Airlines: 72.14% of flights on time
