As the Transportation Security Administration predicted, huge crowds of people passed through security in the U.S. during the Christmas holidays.
It was further confirmation that air travel is back.
Starting on December 13, every day saw at least 2 million passengers go through security at American airports. The only day during that span that didn’t hit more than 2 million passengers was on Christmas Eve – and even that was 1.97 million fliers.
In fact, every single day except one this month has beaten the number of people who have passed through security on the same day last year.
The high mark came on December 22, when 2,775,193 passengers were processed.
This year’s record was on the Sunday after Thanksgiving (November 26) when nearly 3 million people passed through security.
It will be interesting to track the daily numbers to see if the 13 days out of 14 streak grows any larger during the New Year’s holiday.
