Now this is what safety instructions should be like on every airline!
As airlines have raised the bar on producing catchy videos to draw the attention of passengers to the safety instructions, one Southwest Airlines flight attendant was filmed giving the usual safety instruction speech prior to takeoff with a little stand-up comedy routine.
Call it "Live from the Galley." The video has gone viral and it's worth the time to watch the three minute routine.
As soon as the unknown blonde flight attendant takes to the microphone you knew it was going to be something different when she said "If I could pretend to have your attention for just a few moments, my ex-husband, my new boyfriend and their divorce attorney are going to show you the safety features."
Later, the flight attendant says, "As you know it's a no-smoking, no-whining, no-complaining flight. It's a 'please' and 'thank you' and 'you are such a good looking flight attendant' flight."
As for the no-smoking warning, she says, "If you're caught smoking in the lavatory the fine for that is $2,000 and if you're willing to pay that for your airfare you should have flown somebody else."
She even makes an hysterical reference to the fees that airlines now charge for almost everything, telling the passengers that to activate the flow of oxygen in the drop-down masks in case of emergency, "simply insert 75 cents for the first minute."
Here's the entire video, which was posted on April 12 and already has 1.2 million hits.
