With the end of summer approaching fast, Southwest
Airlines is getting ahead of school schedules by unveiling its updated flight
schedule through early April 2027, including increased service for Spring
Break.
To accommodate the Spring Break travel surge, Southwest announced
record-high departures in Austin (141 on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays) and
Orlando (214 on Saturdays), along with growth in Nashville and Las Vegas.
From Austin, the airline will add new service on Mondays,
Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays to Detroit; new service on Mondays, Thursdays,
Fridays, and Sundays to San Jose, Costa Rica; and increased service to Springs
(Hayden) and Montrose (Telluride/Crested Butte), Colorado.
Southwest
will also boast its most-ever departures at Orlando International Airport,
including three times daily service between Orlando and New York City (LaGuardia)
and once daily service between Orlando and Pensacola, Florida.
The carrier is also launching several new routes between key
destinations, including Baltimore and Philadelphia (twice daily), Dallas and
Detroit (daily, sans Saturday), Nashville and Des Moines, Iowa, and Wichita,
Kansas (daily), and Las Vegas and Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, and Knoxville,
Tennessee (varying frequencies).
Southwest is also scheduled to launch Saturday-only service
in March between Nashville and Aruba; Liberia, Costa Rica; Montego Bay,
Jamaica; and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Columbus, Ohio and Punta
Cana, Dominican Republic.
For Hawaii-mainland service, the airline is increasing flights
between Honolulu and Burbank and Ontario, California, to five times per week,
as well as adding weekend-only trips between San Diego and Kona and Lihue.
