British Airways Flight 274 appeared to lose a tire during its takeoff sequence at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid International Airport on Monday evening, January 26.
The video, shared by LAS Vegas Airport LIVE on YouTube and the local Las Vegas Review-Journal, shows the Airbus A350 aircraft as it takes off into the air in the dark. Sparks seem to appear around one of the plane’s tires as it picks up off the ground and begins to ascend.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), there is an investigation into the incident, although no one was injured and the plane, which departed Las Vegas at around 8:45 p.m. local time, was able to continue flying to Heathrow Airport in London, landing safely without additional incidents.
British Airways was brief but succinct in their statement to TravelPulse: “Safety and security underpins everything we do and we’re supporting the authorities with their investigations.”
