Some travelers hit the jackpot this weekend when it came to booking cheap flights with Cathay Pacific Airways.
On New Year's Eve and Day, travelers were able to buy business and first-class return tickets from Vietnam to North America for the same price or lower as economy class prices.
Business class tickets from Danang to New York were going for less than $700, which is cheaper than a coach ticket.
Point Me to the Plane announced on New Year's Eve that first-class round-trip tickets from Vietnam to San Francisco, New York, and Vancouver were only $845. Tickets such as these can cost up to $16,000.
Today, Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it had made a mistake when it came to ticket pricing, but that they would uphold the purchase price for all customers who managed to snag these great deals.
In a tweet, the company wrote: "Happy 2019 all, and to those who bought our good - VERY good surprise 'special' on New Year's Day, yes - we made a mistake but we look forward to welcoming you on board with your ticket issued. Hope this will make your 2019 'special' too!"
Social media applauded the company for honoring the prices.
This mistake and Cathay Pacific's response seems to have provided the company with some much-needed positive press after a data breach occurred in 2018 that affected 9.4 million passengers.
