KAYAK launched a new tool for the company's app that will help measure the bags of travelers to ensure they meet airline regulations Monday.
The new Bag Measurement tool will allow passengers to calculate the size of their bag at home and determine if it will it'll fit in the overhead bin on their flight before ever leaving for the airport.
To use the tool, travelers must open a flight search in the KAYAK app and click the new bag measurement tool option. Once users scan the floor to calibrate measurements, they will be instructed to move the camera around the bag to capture its size.
KAYAK's app will determine the bag's exact measurements and let passengers know whether or not the luggage can be used as a carry on or if it needs to be checked. The app is compatible with the baggage policies of all major airlines and can be found on updated iOS devices.
