San Francisco is vibrant, diverse and boasts eclectic entertainment options to sate that most particular soul.

Obviously, you're going to pay for that kind of action.

Business Travel News recently unveiled its 2016 Corporate Travel Index, which takes a close look at the per diem cost of various cities around the world, separating the results by American and International cities.

For those who are enamored with data points, there is a further breakdown for hotel, car and food costs.

Anyone who has ever spent a week taking in meetings in San Francisco can attest, the city is remarkably pricey.

Not to worry, because it's not in your head. The city by the bay is the most expensive business travel city of the bunch, clocking in at $547.34 on average per day if you need a hotel, car and want to, you know, eat food.

Taking into account, upper-scale, upscale and midscale accommodations, San Francisco still took the proverbial cake when it came to hotel bookings.

Thankfully, the city ranks seventh as pertains to car rental costs throughout 2015, which makes sense because there is a substantial public transportation infrastructure in place. And really, it's a pain to drive around in the area.

When it comes to food, San Francisco takes a back seat to Santa Barbara, Honolulu and Washington D.C., respectively.

If you were wondering how other cities fell into place, take a gander at the above link for all of the rankings.

The top five U.S. cities are as follows: San Francisco ($547.34), New York ($523.05), Boston ($502.69), Seattle ($418.89) and Washington D.C. ($411.10).

Internationally, you are paying a handsome sum if you are staying in Caracas, because that mandates $1,702.44 a day. We hope you close that deal of yours.

Chicago is one of the better buys, offering an amazing cosmopolitan city at just $379.90 per day.

And Las Vegas, surprisingly, ranks No. 28 on the list at $334.34 of per diem cost.

The list illustrates that if you are flying into a city limited by space yet commanding a wealth of tourism interest you are going to pay.

Then again, you are in town for business. Go ahead and splurge a little, because really there is no way around what is going to be an expensive trip.
