Travel trends and top destinations abound in the latest forecast for the year that is only just now unfolding.

Travel marketing website Sojern unveiled data from Q4 2015 as well as its 2016 travel forecast on Wednesday, featuring a wealth of crucial tidbits for all manner of the travel industry.

For the interested, you can take a peek at the infographic that breaks down some of the particulars (posted below) or dive into the Travel Insights report for yourself.

Now the most obvious trend for the upcoming season is the influx of tourists flocking to Brazil this summer. Despite obvious and very real problems facing the region, there is a dramatic increase in travelers booking a holiday to places like Rio de Janeiro thanks to the Summer Olympics.

Sojern offered, "In the country rankings, Brazil climbs nine places to position 14 in the US and 12 positions to fifth place in Europe, over the entire year." Rio, for example, jumped a whopping 30 spots regarding travel on the year as a whole.

Now there are some intriguing trends as far as destinations that pique the interest of traveling Americans. According to Sojern, there are three noteworthy cities that are on the rise in 2016: Buenos Aires, Sydney and Reykjavik.

As we had reported back in November, the tragedy in Paris led to a tremendous drop in travel to the region. The weeks that have followed have showed signs of growth, something echoed by Sojern's report, which features a section on the Paris attacks and the effect it has had on travel in the region.

The report states: "On December 1, bookings recovered by 25 percent week-on-week. By December 12, flight searches had recovered by 19 percent week-on-week. On January 3, bookings had increased by 22 percent and searches by 23 percent."

Sojern delivered the world in a snapshot on Wednesday, replete with data from the last few months that illustrate just what cities can expect a flood of tourists in the coming months.
