The launch date for the final section of the tourist sightseeing trip, the Maya Train, has been announced.
The train, which shuttles people through ancient Mexican ruins, opened last week.
Possibly the most important route of the journey, from Cancun to Tulum, will now open on February 29. This leg of the trip contains what is arguably the most important and historical ruins in the country of Mexico.
There is currently only one section of the train tour open but it sold out in minutes. The next section of track is expected to open on December 31, and then the Cancun to Talum section in two months.

That final leg of the journey will include such popular sites as the ruins of Chichen Itza. The train project alleviates the need to hire a taxi or private transportation to see the ruins, especially for those who are not specifically planning to visit the historical sites as their sole destination, but combining it with a beach vacation.
This you train promises to be quicker and more inexpensive. The Maya Train is said to travel at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour. In total, the entire length of the train trip will be about 300 miles.
Tickets for the sightseeing train can only be purchased through its website. That is expected to change as the popularity of the tour continues to grow. Tickets right now are priced between $67 and $107.
