Holland America Line’s Zaandam is out of dry dock and back on the water with new onboard enhancements.
The ship recently completed a two-week dry dock in the Bahamas. And, on February 8, it departed on its 27-day “Amazon Explorer” Legendary Voyage.
After spending the next few months exploring the Amazon, the ship will sail through the Panama Canal and visit Mexico before heading to Alaska for the summer.
Crews made updates to several of the ship’s public areas, including the library, activity areas, spa and photo studio.
The Greenhouse Spa & Salon got a makeover, with a completely rebuilt thermal suite and the addition of a new infrared spa, Caldarium steam room and experiential rain shower. The spa’s relaxation room got a new beverage counter and new lounge seating, while the salon got custom manicure stations, state-of-the-art pedicure thrones, new salon chairs and shampoo wash basins. The spa and salon is also now more accessible for guests with disabilities.
In the fitness center, crews added a new custom storage area, new bathrooms and upgraded finishes. The library also got a facelift, including a new modern design and an updated book collection. Crews also made improvements to Explorations Café, as well as the Neptune Lounge, a private space for guests in the Neptune and Pinnacle suites.
A new art studio was added to the ship, which will host arts and crafts activities, like painting, origami, crochet and more.
In the ship’s photo studio and photo gallery, crews added a new signature studio where guests can reserve custom private photo sessions and private photo viewing.They also updated the photo gallery to include new photo display areas.
