Crew members immediately charted a course toward the catamaran and, five hours later, rescued two couples and their pets. Once onboard Carnival Splendor, the crew supplied the individuals with food, water and medical assistance.
The ship had departed from Sydney on Monday on an 8-day cruise to Vanuatu and New Caledonia with 3,300 guests onboard. The ship will return to Sydney on Tuesday.
