Jason Montague, who oversaw the merging of Prestige Cruise Holdings into its new owner Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, now is president and COO of Prestige, which operates Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. It's the latest in the ongoing management shake-up since Norwegian closed on its $3.025 billion purchase of Prestige Nov. 19.
His appointment was announced this morning and is effective today. He replaces Kunal S. Kamlani, who Norwegian said resigned. Montague, who was CFO and executive vice president of Prestige, had been with the company for 12 years, helping Frank Del Rio start Oceania in 2002.
"As we continue to refine the future organization, Jason stands out as a leader who is knowledgeable about the brands and is so passionate about them," said Kevin Sheehan, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. "Jason's financial background also aligns well with our corporate culture and strong focus on financial discipline."
When Norwegian closed on the purchase of Prestige, it was announced that Kamlani would remain in his position overseeing Oceania and Regent Seven Seas. Montague was named executive vice president and chief integration officer for Norwegian Cruise Holdings while he oversaw the merging of the companies.
Montague was involved in the purchase of Oceania's first three R-class vessels, the equity investment by Apollo Management, the acquisition and integration of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the financing and delivery of Oceania's new Marina and Riviera and the recent acquisition by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
"I am truly excited to take the helm of these two amazing brands which have had so much success and have such a bright future ahead," Montague said in a press release. "I look forward to building relationships with the travel agent community, delivering an exceptional product for our loyal guests, and engaging our hard-working team members."
Kamlani had served as CFO for Prestige and rejoined the company in 2011 from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch to serve as president and COO. He became president of Oceania in October 2011 following the short tenure of Bruce J. Himelstein. Effective Jan. 31, 2013, Kamlani also became president of Regent Seven Seas, replacing its long-time leader Mark Conroy, who then served as an advisor to the company. Conroy now is a consultant to the Cruise Lines International Association.
Prior to joining Oceania, Montague was a consultant focused on development of small to medium-size companies. Previously, he was vice president-finance for Alton Entertainment Corp.
