Fathom is back to make a difference in the Caribbean-as I predicted it could-after recent hurricanes damaged the region. The Carnival Corporation brand revealed that it would be catching a ride aboard Princess Cruises to affected destinations, and it's now asking for participants as well as donations.
President of Fathom and Global Impact Lead for Carnival Corporation, Tara Russell, took to Facebook to make the announcement that the brand would be returning with a dedicated cruise. (While the line no longer has its own Adonia ship, its social impact programming continues on other Carnival brands.)
On January 20, 2018, Fathom will once again set out in full sail as a group aboard the Crown Princess. The 8-day Eastern Caribbean Explorer sailing is scheduled to call on the islands of Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Fathom's old stomping grounds of the Dominican Republic. It will also feature three days at sea roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In the video, Russell asks those interested to "Save a little spending cash around [the] Christmas season because we really want you to be with us."
Fathom cruise guests have the opportunity to participate in three ways. "You can give, you can gather and you can go," she explained.
Lastly, everyone else is encouraged to gather and share the message with their friends and family on Facebook.
Somewhat surprising is that this announcement was made rather quietly. There has been no press release nor any revelation on Fathom's own main website, which still remains rather vague. Only previous followers of the line on Facebook and social media directing back to the network received the news.
It's thus more of a grassroots campaign to get people involved, asking that they email instead of go to a website or call to even reserve their space onboard and get any more details.
