Heritage Expeditions is partnering with the Antarctic Heritage Trust to offer a special voyage through the Ross Sea in 2025.
The cruise celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Antarctic Heritage Trust’s Inspiring Explorers program, which provides opportunities for young people to experience the polar regions.
The “In the Wake of Scott & Shackleton” cruise departs January 7, 2025, from Queenstown and returns February 3. During the 28-day trip to Antarctica, travelers will have a chance to step inside the iconic expedition huts of explorers Ernest Shackleton and Robert Scott.
In addition, young people ages 18 to 35 from New Zealand and Australia are invited to apply for positions in the 2025 Inspiring Explorers program. Eight successful applicants will have a chance to join the voyage.
“This is the first time we’ve taken a group of young explorers to visit the historic huts and the opportunity to step inside them will see the Inspiring Explorers intimately connect with the legacy of Antarctica’s early explorers, not just through stories, but by experiencing the very landscapes that challenged and inspired them," says Francesca Eathorne, executive director of the Antarctic Heritage Trust.
