Celebrity Cruises' 2,886-passenger Celebrity Silhouette is experiencing "a slight restriction on its top speed" due to a propulsion problem, so the ship has amended nine upcoming itineraries in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Greek Isles.
"It is important for us to assure our guests that this small restriction on the ship's top speed does not impact, in any way, the maneuverability of the ship or the safety of our guests and crew," the company said in a statement. "We are currently exploring repair options. We will contact travel partners and guests with updates should additional modifications need to be made to future itineraries."
No calls have been cancelled, although one port was replaced, and the ship will arrive late or leave early in several ports. Here are affected sailings:
• July 15, 12-night "Eastern Mediterranean & Greek Isles." The scheduled call at Chania, on the Greek island of Crete, has been replaced with Katakolon, Greece.
• July 27, Aug. 10 and Aug. 24, seven-night Greek Isles cruise. The call time at Kotor, Montenegro, has been adjusted from 2-10 p.m. to 3-10 p.m., and a call scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Santorini, Greece, will start an hour later.
• Aug. 3 and Aug. 17, seven-night "Greek Isles & Turkey." The call time at Dubrovnik, Croatia, will start at 1 p.m. instead of noon and end at the scheduled time of 8 p.m. The call at Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey, will be 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. instead of 10 a.m.-8 p.m., while the visit to Mykonos, Greece, will end an hour early at 3 p.m. The call at Corfu, Greece, will be 2-9 p.m. instead of 1:30-8:30 p.m.
• Sept. 12, 11-night "Eastern Mediterranean & Greek Isles." The overnight in Venice, Italy, will begin at noon instead of 10 a.m.
• Oct. 4, 14-night Holy Land. The call to Messina, Sicily, will begin an hour late at 10 a.m. while the visit to Haifa, Israel, will end at 4 p.m. instead of 10 p.m.
• Nov. 1, 15-night "Italian Passage." The call to Palma De Mallora, Spain, will end an hour earlier at 7 p.m. while the visit to Tenerife, Canary Islands, will begin an hour later at 9 a.m.
