Norwegian Cruise Line got some unexpected publicity over the weekend, thanks to George Clooney's wedding in Venice, Italy. While boatloads of paparazzi followed the wedding party zipping along on the historic canals, their progress was interrupted when the 93,000-ton, 2,400-passenger Norwegian Jade cruised by.
Norwegian was amused and tweeted out a photo.
Mark Phillips, senior foreign correspondent for CBS News, appeared disgusted by the sight of the cruise ship. His report on the celebrity wedding for CBS This Morning on Monday included a brief shot of the Norwegian Jade.
"There was George, all dressed up and on his way to get married, traveling down the world's most elegant isle, as it were," Phillips said in his report. "And there was a massive, ugly cruise ship blocking the way. Allowing cruise ships into the lagoon is a great controversy in Venice. Now you know why." Here is Phillips' report:
