Following a recent ban on smart glasses in certain areas of the ship, Royal Caribbean is once again updating what is and isn’t allowed on board, as first reported on by Cruise Hive.
The new list of prohibited items answers frequently asked questions from travelers concerning what is permissible on board. Items are broken down into separate categories like drinks, small appliances, pets, baby items and other miscellaneous items.
Drinks
Travelers may carry on up to 12 non-alcoholic beverages, and can bring one sealed, standard size bottle of wine. Any other type of alcohol, including liquor or beer, may not be brought onboard.
Small Appliances
Irons, steamers, tea kettles, rice cookers or any other appliance that produces steam are prohibited. Small personal fans are allowed.
Pets
Pets are not allowed anywhere on board, but service animals are accepted. Guests who are traveling with a service animal should review the cruise line's accessibility guidelines.
Baby Items
Baby bathing basins and strollers are permitted on board, as long as they are stored in rooms, not the hall. Guests can bring portable cribs and playpens, or they can call to request one placed in their room.
Baby bottle cleaners, sanitizers, and warmers are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, but baby monitors are not allowed.
Smart Glasses
Smart glasses are only permitted in certain areas of the ship. The casino, spa service areas, restrooms, locker rooms, medical facilities, security screening locations, youth facilities, during back-of-house tours and in crew areas are all places where smart glasses are not allowed.
Other Banned Items
Some of the more obvious banned items include weapons, illegal drugs, fireworks, knives, disabling chemicals and flammable items.
Certain destinations have specific regulations on items that could be allowed elsewhere. In Mexico, vapes are banned and cannot be brought on shore. Barbados has a clothing restriction, prohibiting anyone from wearing camoflauge, as it is only permitted for members of their armed forces.
