Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that sailings were impacted
by a technical issue on Monday related to problems with a planned system
maintenance on Sunday.
The technical problems were compounded at the start of the
week, as bad weather in the Northeast had pushed several sailings back a day.
The tech issues impacted the “debarkation and embarkation” of travelers at
several ports.
On Carnival’s website, the cruise line released a statement on
the incident as it was unfolding:
“Carnival is experiencing some IT issues that occurred
during planned maintenance, resulting in the delay of debarkation and
embarkation of guests, as well as slowing down some other technology tools,” a
Carnival spokesperson said.
“Navigation and safety systems are working. We appreciate
our guests’ patience and encourage embarking guests to watch their emails,
text, and phone call messages for updates,” the statement concluded.
According to Cruise
Critic, the tech issues were not just delaying ship departures; passengers
reported issues with the Carnival HUB app and the Carnival website, leaving
travelers temporarily unable to check in for upcoming sailings or print
boarding passes.
Carnival shared the following statement with TravelPulse regarding
the situation being remedied:
“Carnival’s IT systems have been fully restored, after a
technical disruption that occurred during planned maintenance over the weekend.
Our navigation and safety systems have always been fully operational. We
greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of our guests as we worked to
get things back online.”
