Italy's cities are some of the leading
culinary centers of Europe, and Venice is no exception, developing staple
Italian dishes such as Prochuta, Teramasu, and Pandoro.
Here are five restaurants that live up to the Italian
and Venitian tradition of dining that you should try during your stay.
Pizzeria da Zorma: Getting nearly stellar
reviews and often being considered one of the best pizza places in Venice,
Pizzeria da Zorma serves numerous variants of its delicious namesake pizza for
the affordable price of about 10 euros. In addition to their selection of pizzas,
they also serve drinks and several variants of Cicchetti.
Al Timon: This casual outdoor restaurant offers a
selection of steak, pasta, and Cicchetti, as well as seafood, dessert, and
liquor options. It also offers a stunning view of the legendary Venetian Canal.
Antica Trattoria Poste Vecie: Dating back to the
Renaissance, Antica Trattoria Poste Vecie is often considered one of the oldest
restaurants in Venice. This 1500s-era restaurant serves several seafood and
traditional Italian dishes, including tuna tartare, caviar, spaghetti with
scampi, octopus, ravioli, lobster, and beef filet.
Suso Gelatoteca: Often considered to have some
of the best gelato in Venice, Suso Gelatoteca features almost countless flavors
of its highly praised gelato on various cones ranging from waffle to
chocolate-covered.
Trattoria Antiche Carampane: This cozy, family-owned
restaurant is a Venetian staple. The small restaurant specializes in seafood
with menu items such as paccheri with prawns, carpaccio, grilled octopus, and
spaghetti with clams. Besides its large seafood selection, it also features a
number of non-seafood traditional Italian menu items, including prosciutto and
tagliatelle with vegetables.
