It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a balloon, and lot's of them.
Cancun is set to host their very first hot air balloon festival this year and it's expected to be an exciting event.
Called "Volando el Paraiso: Festival del Globo" or "Flying the Paradise, Balloon Festival," it will be hosted by the Pok Ta Pok Golf Club.
The event will take place from April 19-21 and will feature 20 hot air balloons with certified pilots. It's sure to be an awe-inspiring spectacle with the hot air balloons set against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful places in the country, the Mexican Caribbean.
"The hot air balloons will fly around the Nichupté lagoon, and the trips will have a duration of 30 minutes," Israel Avelar Mandujano, administrative director of "Volando el Paraíso" told Riviera Maya News.
Depending on weather conditions, the festival will also feature anchored or captive flights, when balloons rise between 15 and 20 meters (or about 50 to 60 feet) off the ground without going on a trip.
Domestic and foreign tourists will have to pay 500 pesos or nearly $26 to enter the festival, though residents of Quintana Roo will only pay 300 pesos.
Children under one meter tall, or 3.2 feet, will be able to enter for free, making it a unique and exciting option for families visiting the area.
