There are plenty of savings to be had for travelers eyeing warm weather destinations this fall.
Based on booking data compiled by Expedia, "Shoulder season," defined as the period between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31, is an ideal time to travel to the Caribbean, Mexico - specifically Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun - and Hawaii.
Expedia's travel analysts found that, on average, U.S. travelers can save anywhere between 11 and 13 percent on travel to the aforementioned destinations during 2015's shoulder season.
Those savings are based on the 10 leading origin markets in the U.S. and the average airline ticket and hotel prices for this past summer season, spanning from June 1 through Aug. 31.
Expedia's data shows that American travelers can save as much as 17 percent on flights to Hawaii, or 7 and 8 percent on flights to the Caribbean and Mexico, respectively. However travelers are likely to save more on hotels in the latter two regions, with each boasting 16 percent savings this shoulder season.
Meanwhile, visitors to Hawaii can expect to save as much as nine percent on lodging on average.
Research reveals that the best hotel deals can be found on the island of Grand Bahama this fall, with the average daily rate running 39 percent below what it was this past summer high season. The U.S. Virgin Islands (34 percent savings), Mazatlan (31 percent savings), Paradise Island, Bahamas (31 percent savings) and Turks & Caicos (20 percent savings) are also among the best bargains to be had.
"Fall is in ideal time to save on travel to some of American's favorite domestic and international beach destinations," said Expedia senior editor Ingrid Belobradic in a statement. "As a bonus, sizzling temperatures cool off to a more bearable degree."
Keep in mind that Hawaii's Mana Kai Maui, Playa del Carmen's Soho Playa Hotel and Cancun's Mia Reef Isla Mujeres are the top hotels this fall season, with nightly rates ranging from $100 to $183.
