The Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) appointed three executives this week: two as managing directors of integrated communications and one as director of international business development.
Jenna Zarro assumed the position of managing director of integrated communications; Mitsue Varley became director of international business development; and Matthew Clarkson was appointed senior director of data intelligence.
“A high-performing destination requires clarity in how we communicate, strength in how we build global relationships and discipline in how we use data,” said Dr. Aaron J. Salā, president and CEO of HVCB. “Jena, Mitsue, and Matthew each strengthen these capabilities within HVCB, driving greater alignment and discipline in how we operate in support of Hawaiʻi’s broader tourism strategy."
Zarro, with 16 years in travel, was previously director of consumer and content marketing at Hawaiian Airlines, overseeing digital communications teams.
Varley, with over 30 years in Hawaii tourism, was the Asia regional director for the O'ahu Visitors Bureau and the country director for Hawai'i Tourism Japan.
Clarkson was a business intelligence manager at Alaska Airlines and held a marketing and e-commerce analytics role at Hawaii Airlines, where he led cross-functional teams and improved direct channel performance through data-driven insights and testing, the HVCB said.
