As part of the agreement, Paris is poised to host the Summer Games in 2024.
An official announcement from the IOC is expected later Monday.
L.A. had been pursuing the 2024 Olympics but is nonetheless set to host the Games for the third time in less than 100 years.
"An Olympic win is an Olympic win," L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti told Reuters in May. After all, it's been more than two decades since the U.S. last hosted the Summer Olympics.
The IOC evaluation commission called Los Angeles an "outstanding" city in its report, according to USA Today, pointing out that it already possesses the necessary infrastructure to host a massive event like the Games. Therefore, L.A. is confident it can host a low-cost Olympics in 11 years time.

The 6.6 million figure was boosted by Rio de Janeiro having hosted the 2016 Olympics. Last summer's Olympics drew nearly 1.2 million tourists to Rio, including 410,000 foreign travelers.
L.A. last hosted the Summer Olympics last in 1984, while Paris last hosted the Games in 1924.
