Wales is among the most popular of all of the destinations in the United Kingdom, and with good reason.
While it may not be massive in size - in fact, it's among the smallest countries in the region - it seems to have just about everything a visitor could want with a variety of features and attractions.
From historic landmarks to high-energy nightlife, plus all of the latest modern-day activities, this is an area that has a lot of appealing things to offer. It is tough to narrow it down to just a few highlights, but here are a few things that stand out, just to get you started in planning your itinerary.
Snowdonia
Snowdonia National Park is among the most impressive environmental highlights of this region. It's popular for hiking buffs and outdoor enthusiasts in general, many of whom flock to the Snowdonia mountain range. The 14 soaring peaks dominate the landscape for as far as the eye can see. Taking a train ride to the highest summit is sure to provide a view beyond compare.

One of the largest castles in the country, Caernarfon Castle dates back to the 13th century. Hundreds of years later, it remains one of the most improve historical attractions in the region. It commands attention simply by its visual presence, with its 13 towers and large imposing gates.
Llandudno
The largest seaside resort town in the country, Llandudno is sure to be the top choice of destinations for those who love staying in luxury near the water. It has everything you'd expect from a top resort town, including a pier, beautiful beaches, top-notch accomodations, and even access to a nearby castle.
Portmeirion
Part hotel, part tourist attraction, Portmeirion is the complete package for those who want unique fun and a whimsical getaway. It may provoke thoughts of the major theme park resorts that are so popular here in the United States, but it has the local flavor of quaint villages and Welsh architecture that makes this something you won't find anywhere else.
Coasteering
Coasteering isn't technically something you see - at least, not in the sense of a typical tourist attraction. It's more of something you do, at least if you have the courage. This is a unique type of high-endurance water sport that combines climbing, surfing, swimming, jumping and just about anything else you can do in the chilly waters that you navigate while circumventing rocks and exploring water caves. Those with less bravery or stamina might want to enjoy the safer vantage point of being a spectator.
Conwy
If you want to find the best way to pack as many different experiences as possible into a single day, you should head to Conwy. It offers a long list of exciting options, including amazing views, an incredible castle, terrific natural landscapes-and a suspension bridge that offers the perfect vantage point from which to view it all.
Anglesey
The largest island in Wales, Anglesey has gorgeous coastlines dotted with quaint fishing villages, and lots of quiet spots from which you can just relax and take in the incredible views. And what remarkable island would be complete without a lighthouse?
Pembrokeshire Coast
With all of the amazing views that can be found all throughout Wales, it takes a lot to stand out. But the Pembrokeshire Coast manages to do just that. It has great beaches and some of the most stunning views in all of Britain, which is saying a lot.

Mixing the eccentric with the educational, the Mushroom Garden offers experiences that can definitely be described as unique.
