This past Monday, July 10 marked The Bahamas’ 50th Anniversary of Independence, an incredible half-century milestone for the resilient Caribbean destination defined by its astounding natural beauty, rich culture, distinctive traditions, and unflappable pride in its heritage.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, the 16-island destination is encouraging global travelers to come embrace its unique way of life and revel in the true Bahamian spirit.

From the pulsing rhythms and brilliantly vibrant sights that accompany the bi-annual Junkanoo festival across Nassau, Grand Bahama and the Out Islands to the bold colors of the Bahamian flag beaming from the surface of New York City’s iconic Empire State Building, The Bahamas’ Golden Jubilee celebrations extend far beyond its shores.

"The immense pride that I, alongside my Bahamian brothers and sisters, experienced this Independence Day, was seen, heard and felt throughout each of our 16 islands," said the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. "On our day of independence, 10 July and every day after, we celebrate our people, culture and natural beauty that has shaped our country into what it is today."
