Despite any recent perceptions, the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos are making sure that tourists know it is still a viable and welcoming destination.

Turks and Caicos had a recent bad run of unfortunate behavior when several tourists were arrested for mistakenly bringing ammunition to the islands, facing prison time as a result.

Turks and Caicos is situated just south of the Bahamas and comprised of approximately 40 islands.

“We want to reassure our valued visitors that the safety and well-being of each guest are paramount to us. The Turks and Caicos Islands remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a safe and relaxing getaway experience. We are dedicated to preserving the charm of our destination while upholding the highest standards of safety and hospitality. Our visitors can rest assured that they are in good hands, and we look forward to welcoming them with open arms,” says Minister of Tourism Josephine Connolly.

After being identified as the best-performing global destination in 2023 by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the islands are still expecting record-breaking tourism through August.

“With some of the world’s best beaches, among them, the award-winning Grace Bay Beach, turquoise waters, the third largest barrier reef in the world, diverse marine activities such as diving, snorkeling, whale-watching and unparalleled hospitality, the multi-island destination offers an unparalleled getaway experience that caters to the desires of the affluent and discerning traveler,” officials said in a press release, promising a vigilant focus on security.

The islands also touted local immersions and excursions.

Additionally, officials reminded visitors that they are a British territory and subject to those laws. Visitors are also warned to check their luggage before they arrive in Turks and Caicos for any prohibited items.
