Whale watching season in Los Cabos is entering its final stretch, and for travel advisors looking to add a memorable, nature-forward experience to client itineraries, the timing could not be better. Gray and humpback whales remain active along the coast through April, and late-season travel often means thinner crowds and a more intimate experience on the water.

Each year, humpback whales migrate from the cold waters of Alaska and Canada to the warmer seas of Los Cabos, where they mate, birth their young and gather in impressive numbers along the coastline. Gray whales make the same journey, and lucky travelers may also spot orcas or the occasional blue whale.

Adding to the spectacle, whale sharks — the largest fish in the sea — share these waters during the same December through April window, giving clients the rare chance to encounter multiple marine giants in a single trip.

Tours depart from both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, with sighting success rates running high throughout the season. Vessel options range from nimble pangas that get clients close to the action, to spacious catamarans and luxury yachts for those who prefer comfort on the open water. Advisors should note that tours fill up quickly, so early booking is strongly recommended.

There are many options from which to choose when it comes to selecting a whale watching adventure. For clients who value sustainability and expertise, Cabo Nature offers ecotourism excursions led by marine biologists and oceanologists, with a mission rooted in conservation and women's empowerment in ocean industries.

Cabo Adventures caters to the luxury traveler, custom-tailoring day trips and itineraries with expert local guides and a focus on creating once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Wild Cabo Tours brings a festive, full-service approach with a fleet of five private vessels — including catamarans, a yacht and two pirate ships — and fresh meals prepared on board by a chef.

For a more personalized outing, Cabo Private Guide offers two-and-a-half-hour tours on fast, comfortable pangas with flexible morning or afternoon departure times, snacks and drinks included.

With high sighting rates, diverse vessel options and operators suited to a range of client profiles and budgets, Los Cabos whale watching is a strong value-add for any spring itinerary. The season closes mid-April—advisors should act now to secure spots for clients before the whales make their return north.
